ABOUT THE ARTIST
For over twenty-five years, Joseph Gray has been working with, and creating art out of stone. Though based in New England, his custom, one-of-a-kind sculpture has appealed to audiences throughout the United States and Canada, as well as finding an international market through private collectors in Southern France and the United Kingdom. His sculpture is exhibited frequently in numerous New England art galleries, sculpture gardens and other outdoor gathering spaces. He was commissioned to install sculpture on the nationally-renowned Clipper Trail in Newburyport, MA, and the City subsequently purchased his signature sculpture, “Dance Me to the End of Time,” previously on exhibit at Maudslay State Park in MA.

Most recently, he was invited to showcase his custom sculpture when he was selected to be the opening exhibit at the 2014, 2016 and 2017 Boston Flower & Garden Show, as well as at the 2014 Newport Flower Show on the grounds of the historic Rosecliff Mansion – two of the most prestigious flower shows in the country.

His specialties include large outdoor sculpture, abstract and realism, stone fountains, garden sculpture, interior artwork, memorials for loved-ones and beautiful hand-carved keystones. His work often reflects his love for the natural world including animals and wildlife, as well as his passion and connection to Native American art and sculpture. He is equally comfortable working with a client’s existing ideas or designs, or helping to create a custom, one-of-a-kind piece to be passed down to generations. His passion for sculpture is evident in his attention-to-detail and deep-rooted belief that sculpture can evolve into a form that often unexpectedly “tells its own story” when completed. His work has been featured and referenced in numerous interior design books and magazines, as well as other local and national publications.
